Our other experience mountains such as First, Kleine Scheidegg, Winteregg and Harder Kulm also recorded good to excellent results.
The increase in frequency for the Wengernalp Railway can be attributed to good results in excursion traffic and an excellent start to the 2007/2008 winter season. It was possible to more than compensate for the loss in winter-sport traffic in the months from January to April 2007. For the First Aerial Cableway the loss could be reduced to minus 5,2% with a very good summer season (+11,6%).
The Mürren Railway recorded a very positive first year with the new aerial cableway from Lauterbrunnen to Grütschalp. As the old funicular ceased operations at the end of April 2006 and the new aerial cableway officially went into service on 16 December 2006, the above figures contain a comparison with 2005.
The drop in frequencies on the Harder Railway can be explained by an around sixweek interruption of services in August/September. On 9 August, a landslide badly damaged the Harder Railway track and one of its two carriages. In 2008, the Harder Railway will celebrate its centenary with new carriages and numerous promotions.
Winter sport Plenty of snow and wonderful weather allowed the JUNGFRAU Region to start its 2007/2008 winter season as early as mid-November. In the run up to the start, the first part of the Kleine Scheidegg technical snow installations was able to be put into operation in good time. Together with the new 6-seater Honegg chairlift, snow-sports guests are now offered more attractions with a greater guarantee of snow.
In November and December 2007 we recorded a 52% (81,7% for Grindelwald-First)increase in guest numbers compared to the previous year. In 2007, a total of 1,1 million snow-sport guests visited the JUNGFRAU Region. Over Christmas/New Year(22.12.2007-2.1.2008) 183’132 guests enjoyed the Grindelwald-First, Kleine Scheidegg-Männlichen and Mürren-Schilthorn pists.
