Attaching a key tag to a bunch of keys so they can be dropped in a post box by the finder and subsequently returned to the owner by, does not work in different countries.
It does not represent a true alternative.
The Swiss company KEYP Ltd. Has developed over the past two years a sophisticated and intelligent key finding system:
The KEYP in-touch.
It merges several functions in one device and works worldwide:
- Find mislaid and lost keys with a cell phone
- Active anti-theft system
- Backup power supply for cell phones
Core function "key recovery"
The KEYP in-touch (= KEEP + KEY) is an attractive key fob equipped with the latest GPS and GSM technologies (patent pending), so you can find your keys using your own cell phone.
When the KEYP in-touch is called on its standard phone number, it will begin ringing and will flash. If the keys are in close proximity to the searcher, they can easily be located and found.
If the keys are too far away from the owner, the text message sent to the owner's cell phone details the current position of the KEYP in-touch.
By clicking on the link in the text message the user will receive helpful information in Google Maps (address, driving direction) on how to retrieve the missing bunch of keys.
This is particularly useful if, for example, a handbag containing keys is stolen. The owner can report the theft by calling the standard phone number. The location information may then be submitted in accordance with strict data privacy requirements to the local police station. If the thief tries to use the keys to gain access to the owner's home, the police can arrest the thief before they commit another criminal offense.
Additional Functions: Charging cable and power bank
Today's smart-phone users are frustrated by the short battery life of their mobile devices.
The KEYP in-touch's integrated charging cable allows the user to charge their phone at any time.
During the process of charging the cell phone, the KEYP in-touch battery will automatically recharge.
If there is no power point handy, the KEYP in-touch can also be used as a backup power supply, charging your cell phone from its integrated battery.
The KEYP in-touch is well advanced as a working prototype and will be available in 2014.
To meet demand, a crowd funding project for this innovative product has been started to provide financing for final development and production.
