It s not just the environment that benefits from the energy-efficient OSRAM products, which already account for a 60 per cent share of the company s turnover. Every reduction in carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions goes hand in hand with lower energy costs for the user.
The fact that economical lighting systems can also satisfy the highest demands for design, safety and quality is ably demonstrated by the four scenarios of City, Shop, Office and Home. In addition to the new products, many "classics" have been optimized with respect to their predecessors in terms of energy-efficiency and longevity. OSRAM has also succeeded both in reducing the mercury component of energy-saving lamps (CFLi) even more significantly below the prescribed EU directive (RoHS) and in making CFLi lamps more attractive, especially to private end users, by having a warmer light color and a faster ignition time.
Trade fair visitors make trees grow
The central theme of climate protection is implemented in a visually impressive manner at the trade fair stand via the interactive art installation "Reactive Growth" by the Berlin design office ART+COM. A giant LED-wall shows a bird s eye-view of a forest that dynamically grows and becomes denser, the more visitors look at it. Everyone who nears the screen is captured by a camera and counted. To show the impact an average Light + Building trade fair visitor could have on the global lighting market, their individual decision to cut carbon emissions is multiplied by a theoretical factor of approximately 1,540 tonnes of CO2. This is a contribution that everyone who looks at the screen could make simply by deciding to promote energy-saving lighting. It is symbolised by the trees that would otherwise be needed to compensate for the CO2 emission. The number of viewers, the potential carbon dioxide saving and the corresponding number of trees are shown every day on the screen. OSRAM has already successfully worked together with ART+COM in the context of the OSRAM ART PROJECTS.
Further highlights from OSRAM s wide portfolio can be seen at the trade fair stand in Hall 2.0, Stand B 50. In addition, the stand of the OSRAM LED partner network LED Light for you (LLFY), in Hall 4.1, Stand D 31, also gives an insight into the latest developments in LED.
