Sinalco’s distinctive appearance makes the brand a little gem of German and international everyday culture. For years, the name has been the generic concept for an entire industry and the unmistakable design of the legendary Sinalco bottle is familiar to many people far beyond Germany’s borders.
Sinalco’s advertising poster art and artists have always reflected the company’s zeitgeist. As such, very different styles are found in the artists’ works, from art nouveau to art deco all the way to pop art. Artists and well-known agencies in Germany and abroad have contributed to many of the posters’ being awarded prizes.
In the meantime, around 80 historic posters have been sorted through, restored, catalogued, framed and placed behind glass. From October to November 2007, Sinalco exhibited the posters in the Cubus Kunsthalle (Art Gallery) in Duisburg, thus making this Duisburg treasure accessible to the public.
The Duisburg exhibition was the start of a travelling exhibition which will be on display in other countries including the Balkan States, Switzerland and Egypt as of January 2008.
