Now for the first time, the Campaign for Healthier Backs AGR has awarded its "certified & recommended" seal of approval to a mobile pallet strapping system by ErgoPack as a back-friendly alternative to manual strapping.
Ergonomic strapping without having to bend
In order to ensure that loads are secured correctly, manual strapping methods mean that the worker has to bend over the pallet four times and walk round it twice. Daily rates of 50 pallets mean that the worker has to bend more than 1,000 times a week and walk round the pallet more than 500 times. The AGR-certified strapping system by ErgoPack can be used to strap the pallets conveniently from a standing position, without having to bend and without having to walk round the pallet. This is possible thanks to the patented chain head which takes the strap under the pallet and up again on the other side, landing directly in the worker's hands. "Ergonomic aspects played a crucial role in developing the strapping system. That's why it is called ErgoPack", explains Andreas Kimmerle, Managing Director of ErgoPack Deutschland GmbH. "The biggest challenge was to find a possibility of bringing the strap up again on the other side of the pallet, while also taking account of differing pallet widths and heights."
