The kick-off for the "Berlinale Edition" will be celebrated with a special screening at 11 a.m. on November 11 in the Zoo Palast cinema, the traditional premiere venue for films of the Generation section. Wallah Be, a Danish film, will be shown in the presence of director Pia Bovin and leading actor Adam Gilbert Jespersen. The film won the Grand Prix of the Deutsches Kinderhilfswerk at the Berlinale in 2003.
"The DVD edition resurrects a number of highlights from previous festivals and makes them available to past fans and future generations of viewers. These films stand for what we aspire to achieve with the Berlinale: to present intelligent entertainment and new ways of looking at young people’s lives", remarks Generation director Thomas Hailer.
Patron of the "Berlinale Edition" is actor Peter Lohmeyer: "My children and I regularly attend Generation during the Festival. And every year we are bowled over by the audience’s enthusiasm. Young people want films that take their feelings and concerns seriously. Parents and children are going to enjoy being able to see these films at home."
Each DVD contains a detailed booklet that supplements the films from the perspective of young viewers. All the texts were written, compiled and edited by the "Young Journalists" who participated in the Berlinale’s internet project of the same name: www.jungejournalisten.berlinale.de
