The Mannheimer Philharmoniker and their artistic director Boian Videnoff have just returned from Spain, where they made a very successful debut at the Auditorio Nacional de Música in Madrid. The young orchestra performed Schumann's cello concerto with the star cellist Mischa Maisky and Mendelssohn's "Scottish" Symphony No. 3. The audience of the Spanish capital responded to the orchestra's performance with long lasting enthusiasitc applause and many bravo calls. Also the German press reviewed the orchestra's tour to Spain.
This was the debut of the Mannheimer Philharmoniker in Madrid's most important classical music hall and it appeared within the prominent concert series "Juventudes Musicales" along side with internationally acclaimed orchestras such as the BBC Philharmonic, the Academy Of St Martin in the Fields and conductors and soloists such as Joshua Bell, Emmanuel Pahud, Zubin Mehta and Christian Zacharias.
