The spirit of Advent will unfold in the opera house this year with »La Bohème«, »Tristan and Isolde«, »La Traviata« and »The Magic Flute« – Mozart's fairytale work presented in a new, family-friendly version, suitable for children aged 8 and over, and the performance on December 17 will even include a hands-on parcours experience and audio description. In addition to opera vouchers, tickets for the Gala on December 30 and New Years Eve are particularly popular Christmas gifts: the renowned television host Juri Tetzlaff leads us on a musical journey around the world from Seville to New York via the Salzkammergut in Austria. At the end of the year, the Leipzig Ballet presents »Paradise Lost« and »Chaplin«, two choreographies by Mario Schröder. The Musikalische Komödie presents a wide selection of musicals and operettas in December, as well as Advent concerts in the Museum der Bildenden Künste and the Old Town Hall. And a gift idea to consider for operetta aficionados might just be the swinging upbeat New Years Concert on January 6 and 7! The two Oper Leipzig venues extend a particular invitation to their young and youngest of audiences in December to the productions of »Gold«, »Peter and the Wolf«, »Alice in Wonderland« and the Baby Concerts. And for those who don't really need any Christmas harmony, we recommend the Venus Nights and especially »Korfmachers Giftschrank«, where Leipzig's leading music critic Peter Korfmacher showcases the very worst items from his collection of recordings.
