A method of new and further development of plastic material of growing demand is compounding. By combining known plastic materials with fillers, reinforcing agents and other additives, the qualities of the primary plastic are selectively modified. Stabilizers, for example, add UV stability; reinforcing agents und fillers, such as fiberglass, change mechanical properties; or pigments define the basic color of the new developed compound.
A customer of growing relevance for these innovative composite materials is the car industry. Up-to-date designs and requirements with regard to the total weight of the vehicle are pushing classic metal coachbuilding, especially in the field of e-mobility, against limiting factors. Traditional plastic materials, in many cases, have only restricted suitability as substitutes. Modern compounds open up completely new possibilities.
„Polymers modified with nanotubes, such as the Armamid® developed by R&P POLYPLASTIC, give plastic electric conductivity allowing the electrostatic wet varnishing of bodyworks with plastic elements “, Eduard Albrecht, managing director of Polytrade Global GmbH, explains. „Polyplastic Compounds in this way combines modern materials with proven and efficient production processes in the industry.”
R&B POLYPLASTIC, with nearly one third market share, is one of the leading producers of compound plastic materials in Russia and the community of independent states. The marketing agreement with Polytrade Global, signed end of 2018, is a step towards the company’s objective to expand its business with raw materials of versatile uses in Europe. By now POLYPLASTIC, here, ranks among the ten leading suppliers.
Customers of the innovative plastic materials are Russian and international known car manufacturers, e.g., GAZ, UAZ, KAMAZ, Volkswagen, Hyundai, the PSA group, and also manufacturers of electric and household appliances, such as LG, Indesit, Candy, or Samsung.
„The partnership completes our range of exclusively and worldwide marketed additives and catalytic converters, polymers, and linked services”, Albrecht states.
With the R&B POLYPLASTIC trademarks ARMAMID®, ARMLEN®, and TECHNOTEP®, Polytrade Global distributes three of the compounds developed in Russia for injection molding and extrusion processing.
Together with Polytrade Global, R&P POLYPLASTIC pursues ambitious aims for the European market. Until 2025, the company strives to generate 25% of its total sales in the EU.
